COMET-LA Stakeholder Board will be composed by the local stakeholders in the case studies, national stakeholders in the participant countries and the members of the global partnership in the learning arena. The members will be representatives of organizations, institutions and policymakers with a stake on the management of natural resources, at local, national and global levels, and will be chaired by CEIUCN.
An active stakeholder dialogue is essential to fulfil COMET-LA objectives; to enhance
institutional embedding, acceptance and dissemination of project findings; to foster the
adaptive capacities of different stakeholders and to make the outcomes relevant at local,
national and global levels.
The primary activities of the Stakeholder Board will be to:
• Help target COMET-LA activities to give answer to the needs and problems of
community-based management of natural resources.
• Check the suitability of COMET-LA approaches to the need of the communities.
• Assess the impacts of COMET-LA outcomes in the communities they represent.
• Help target COMET-LA outcomes to be relevant and useful to other social-ecological
systems and scales.
Members of the Stakeholder Board will be invited to participate in the annual workshop and stakeholder forum hold in each of the countries and to help in the discussions about the interest of the research and results. Local stakeholders in the different communities and countries will be identified in the first three months of COMET-LA functioning. Table 2.1.2 lists some local, national and global actors that have already shown their interest in being involved in this Board.
